(Scroll down for video) Herman Cain delivered the Tea Party State of the Union response at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. shortly following the GOP response to the State of the Union.
He’s the man, who until recently hoped to replace Barack Obama as president.
Cain said the president's annual speech to Congress was a hodge-podge of little ideas.
He said there were no big ideas that would fundamentally change how things work in Washington or dramatically impact job growth.
And Cain said the nation's unemployment is really more than twice the government's official count.
“Now let me tell you what we did not hear, we did not hear the real facts about the State of the
Union. Facts don't lie. Here are some of the facts that you did not hear. Unemployment. The
December unemployment rate was reported to be eight point five percent, but if you add in the people who have been looking for so long that they have stopped looking and they are discouraged, and if you add in the eight million people that are underemployed, the real rate of unemployment is 18 percent.”
Cain also said the national debt has become a "national disgrace."
The Tea Party supports less taxes, smaller federal government spending and aims to adhere to the Constitution.
